The HiPix volunteer development group has come up with a Zoom Player wrapper interface allowing you to output high-quality
scaled progressive video for HDTV.
Looks like the end of DVD Regional Coding is slowly growing near,
In this BBC article,
they describe some of the views from the manufacturer and retailer point of view. The original region coding was
a failure from day one. The "improved" RCE wasn't even a bump in the road. Hopefully the DVD Consortium will
get the message and drop regional coding altogether.

As part of my on-going slow revamp of the site, I've updated the Zoom Player FAQ to the new
design and also included 4 more entries.

As some of you may have seen on the forum, I delayed the Zoom Player 2.80 beta 1 release until I work out several features
for a related project. I have no ETA for the beta, so stay tuned.
In a brighter note, AICN is reporting
that the Indiana Jones Trilogy will be coming out on DVD by X-Mas 2003. Still a long way to go, but it's good to know
there's actually some movement in this area.

I am still looking for a DVD Software reviewer with the hardware to make valid calls (AC3/DTS System, Good quality output
device). If you feel you're up for it, contact me.

Announcing Zoom Player v2.70.
After a bit over a month of work, Zoom Player v2.70 is ready for action. Surprising amount of new features in this
version considering the development time, but there you go!
For the complete list of changes since v2.60 go here.
As you might have seen, the DVD Player review section has remained rather quiet in the last few months. The reason for this
is twofold. The first is that I was concentrating hard on Zoom Player and didn't really have much time to make
myself available to handle other aspects of the site, and the second was that our beloved reviewer, Kelly Garvey had
to bow down due to family obligations.
I am now actively seeking someone to replace Kelly. If you think you can do objective reviews of the
latest DVD Playback software and have the required Audio/Video Hardware to perform these tests,
please contact me with details about yourself and your qualifications.
July 11th, 2002.
I am putting the finishing touches to Zoom Player v2.70 and fully expect it to be ready by July 13th. Lots of effort
has gone into this release and the change list can attest to this. Won't take much longer.
July 6th, 2002.
